HAMMERING FOR FREEDOM Is On the Bookshelf, Y’all!

Hi Everyone,
As promised, I’m back to tell you a little bit about the NOLA conference!
First of all, the New Orleans convention center was over a mile (yes, I said ONE MILE) long. Second, it was packed with people from the front to the back, and all in-between. There were readers, writers, authors, editors and librarians running around everywhere.

Most authors whose books were debuting soon got the opportunity to autograph copies for the swarming fans, but my book was still in the F&G (fold and gather) form. I stood at Lee and Low’s booth and answered a few questions, but I also took the time to wander about and meet some of the other publishers.
For example, since I penned three books for Rosen Publishing (Getting a Job in the Food Industry; Getting the Most Out of MOOC; and The Right Medical Degree for Me), I found Rosen’s booth and introduced myself.
Next, I found Cavendish Square’s booth and introduced myself as the writer who had penned the educational book called Playwriting. I never located the publisher called The History Press, which published my very first title, African Americans of Chattanooga. HOWEVER, I definitely made my way to Random House Book’s booth, where I introduced myself as the writer whose picture book, The Oldest Student, would debut sometime in 2019.
In case you’ve forgotten, Hammering For Freedom debuts on September 25, 2018. You can preorder by clicking the Amazon link to the left.
Best wishes,
Rita Lorraine

Dear Ms. Hubbard,
Phenomenal book! I came to read this through the ReFoReMo event this year, and what a blessing!
It is the first nonfiction book on the list, and I loved it! I hope to get my nonfiction PBs published someday, too, and I wondered if you had to submit a detail list of your sources, even more than you have in the book?
The Library Edition has the Lewis family photograph on the back cover, and I thought that was awesome. I felt like I knew the family by the time I shut the cover, and there they were!
Blessings to you! You are a talented author!

Hi Nancy, thanks SO much for stopping by, and thanks for those wonderful words. You have really made my day. Yes, I love the photo of William on the front porch with his family. In my author readings and signings, I tell people that although I never met William, I could feel in my bones that he was a devoted family man — and that picture reinforces it. Even though his son Hugh had joined the USCT and died before he saw action, William still would not take the family portrait without his picture of Hugh hanging on the porch column. Again, I’m so thrilled that you liked it. Blessings to you, too! <3
