Hammering for Freedom!
Hello everybody,
It’s here!! Well, almost. You’re looking at the cover of my debut nonfiction historical PICTURE BOOK, Hammering For Freedom, written for middle grade readers.
Remember all those years ago when I told you I had just become Lee and Low Publisher’s 2012 New Voices Award winner? If you missed that post, CLICK HERE. Anyway, this is the book that evolved from that win. It began as fiction but slowly evolved into multicultural nonfiction for middle grade readers. Yes, it took many years, many prayers, a lot of sweat and relentless hope, but it has finally happened. The book is beautiful.
I have to take this time to send a shout out to Master Artist, John Holyfield. The depth and emotion he captured in the illustrations actually brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much, John. This association has been my honor!
One last thing: I will be posting about my writing/editing/waiting/hoping period very soon, so please stay tuned.
By the way, the book is AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER. Just click on the link to the right and you’ll be whisked over to Amazon. Thank you in advance for your support.
