New Homes for Old Writers
Hi Everybody,
Hope you’re having a productive writing year so far. And if you’re not…what are you waiting for, get to it! Of course, that’s not why I stopped through; what I really want is to tell you about some wonderful writing groups I’ve discovered.
So I’m not a big fan of social networking, right? No matter which site you join, there’s usually a humongous learning curve. And once you’ve mastered that, you’re bombarded with distracting pictures, video and conversation that promise not to let you get very much writing done.
But I’ve found a social network called LINKEDIN that’s proven to be very beneficial. Not only does it link me in – literally – to other writers/entrepreneurs who do and think like I think and do, it also gives me the opportunity to network within various interesting writing groups.
For example, I belong to Children’s Publishing, which has over 10k members and offers ongoing questions, polls and chats for the enthusiastic writer. I also belong to Authors, Publishers, Writers, Editors and Writing Professionals, which has over 11k members and offers articles and opinions from professionals in the writing world. Both groups offer the possibility of not only linking with new (aspiring) writer-friends, you can link with established editors, agents and authors, too.
Of course there are other groups, such as “Children’s Books,” “List Your Projects Here,” “Boomer Writers” and more, and many of these groups list new jobs or writing competitions that members may be interested in.
So if you’ve been looking for the write–I mean right–group to help you hone your writing skills and network among your peers, consider joining LinkedIn and finding the right group for you.
Best wishes and happy writing,
Rita Lorraine
