The Picture Book Dummy Challenge
Hi Everybody,
Just wanted to tell you about the most wonderful challenge happening on Twitter. It’s called The #Kidlitart Picture Book Dummy Challenge, and it’s hosted by some very generous (and funny) writers/illustrators from #Kidlitart.
The Picture Book Dummy Challenge happens every Thursday night at 9:00pm EST. It will last for 25 weeks–that’s right, 25 WEEKS, and you’ll be able to get, give and/or absorb all sorts of tips during that time. There are also wonderful discussions on picking your project, drafting your PB, developing your characters, and even honing your pitch.
Sound good? If so, go to this link to learn more: http://tinyurl.com/46ogf7o. But be quick about it; the challenge has already started.
Once on the #Kidlitart blog site, you can read the transcript from the January 6, 2011 chat, called, Picking a Picture Book Project You Can Live With. A little further down are other challenge details, such as the chat schedule for the 25-week duration. These entries should get you caught up and ready to participate.
I participated for the first time Thursday night (January 13), and I have to admit, I absolutely loved it! I must warn you though, those tweets whiz by at lightning speed, so your best bet is to use TweetDeck or Tweetchat.com so you can keep up with all the fabulous, frantic, informational tweeting.
Well, hope I’ve given you enough to whet your appetite. The rest you’ll have to see…or should I say, tweet, for yourself. Hope to see you in #Kidlitart’s Picture Book Dummy Challenge!
Best wishes and happy tweeting,
Rita Lorraine
