Reviewer…or Procrastinator???
Hi Everybody,
Coming to you with a pretty deep thought (deep for me, at least!). Here’s my question: Is a reviewer really a reviewer…or just a procrastinator in disguise???
I only ask because I am a reviewer, and I never, I repeat, NEVER, have time to write. I’ve got too many books on the review roster, so to get my own writing done, I have to steal time from…get this, myself.
Crazy, isn’t it? But it’s the truth. Every time I sit down to write my own stuff, I realize that my TBR (To Be Read) stack is still astronomically high, and I need to get my reading behind me.
But even when I get caught up on reviews, the strangest thing happens: I still don’t write. I usually fumble through my “review box” to get more reading behind me so I can clear my roster to write. But as my roster clears, I accept more review requests, believing the age-old legend that a well-read writer learns to write well. Only I never get to test my theory, because I never have time to write…
So here’s the question: Am I not writing because I’m a busy reviewer, or am I reviewing because I’m a procrastinating writer?
Huh? Answer me!!!
I wrote about this very phenomenon several months ago. I called my article: Don’t Forget to Write. Here’s the link:

Hope you enjoy this article. It shows you how, if a writer isn’t careful, she can be easily distracted from her original goal, which is…drum-roll, please. TO WRITE!
Best wishes and happy reading,
