Little Things You Should Know: Just How Many Pages are Enough?

Just dashing through to share some information about manuscript submission lengths. No matter your genre, the odds are you have wondered just how many pages your precious manuscript should have. Well wonder no more! Read on for the low-down.

PAGE SPECS PER GENRE

Let me begin this post by spitting some knowledge (Don’t you just love to hear young people say that?). Anyway, here it is: No rule is ever written in stone. What I mean is, I’m including the suggested number of pages per genre in this post, but I’m pretty sure the fabric of the universe won’t unravel if you write a few pages more or less than what is suggested.

That being said, please know that these specs come from The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). They recommend the following number of pages for each reading level.
