ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW…
Hi Everybody,
If you have a budding scientist or explorer in your home or your classroom, this may be the perfect book for you!
Animals Charles Darwin Saw: An Around-the-World Adventure, is the perfect science adventure to get your students talking about wildlife, exploration and preserving the environment.
Written by author Sandra Markle, Animals Charles Darwin Saw is best described as part biography, part science book. The book follows the life of explorer Charles Darwin from his birth in 1809, through his life-long obsession with exploring, until the day he died in 1882. Along the way, it uses the colorful illustrations of artist Zina Saunders to depict the long list of animals and insects Darwin encountered as he made a name for himself as a world explorer.
From the bombardier beetle to the pink flamingo, this book uses a hands-on approach to show how Darwin gathered information about the things he encountered, how he recorded his thoughts, and how he shared his conclusions with the rest of the world.
In short, Animals Charles Darwin Saw is a great book for children, but please note that it is not a picture book. This detailed version of Darwin’s life story and the useful glossary of important words at the end of the book make the manuscript quite lengthy, and perhaps too academic for the very young reader.
Still a great book to add to your child’s library.
